I‘m Yick Lee (Yick Sir / Tsubasa), an Accredited Linguist and Cantonese educator, born and raised in Hong Kong and now based in Melbourne. I speak Cantonese, Mandarin and English, can converse in Taishanese, and have basic knowledge of Taiwanese Hokkien and Japanese.

My work focuses on Hong Kong Cantonese, heritage-language learning and multilingual family language strategy, especially helping overseas families pass Cantonese on to the next generation. As a father raising a multilingual child, I also bring a practical family perspective to heritage-language learning and multilingual parenting.

I currently offer online Cantonese lessons for teenagers and adult learners.

I also welcome parents who would like guidance on heritage Cantonese, multilingual parenting — including families using Mandarin — and family language strategy.

Passing on Cantonese is about more than language. It is about preserving connections across generations and a sense of identity.
